Lil Modular: a modular synth inside Ableton Live

Lil Modular is a Eurorack-style rack inside your DAW, made by Lessons in Live. Add modules, patch them with colour-coded cables (drag, or click an output and then an input), and play the result from Live like any other instrument.

  • 30 modules: MIDI IN (polyphonic, up to 16 voices, MPE, Legato with glide), VCO, 3 OSC (FM and stereo unison), WAVETABLE (built-in tables or your own Serum-style files), NOISE; VCF (Ladder, Acid and SVF filters), WAVEFOLDER; ADSR, LFO, RANDOM; SEQ 16 (a step sequencer with dice that roll new notes in your scale or new patterns), CLOCK, QUANTIZER, LOGIC, SLEW, OFFSET; VCA, MIXER; ten effects (DRIVE, CRUSH, CHORUS, FLANGER, PHASER, RING MOD, DELAY, REVERB, STUTTER, GRAIN); SCOPE and OUTPUT.
  • Polyphonic cables: one cable carries every voice, so a whole polysynth is a handful of modules.
  • Made for learning modular: hover over any jack for a tip on what it does and where it usually goes; right-click a jack and Lil Modular patches it for you (adding the module if needed).
  • 64 macros for Live’s automation and MIDI mapping; undo and redo; favourites; a resizable window with zoom.
  • 50 presets (bass, leads, pads, keys, sequences) and a Starter Patch that shows off the whole rack.
  • Locked to Live’s tempo: sequencer, clock, LFOs, delay and stutter.
