Support
Leer en españolAnswers to the questions we get most about our plug-ins and apps. Still stuck? Contact us and tell us the product, your computer (Mac or Windows) and your Live version. A screenshot of any error helps a lot.
Installing
Windows says it protected my PC / doesn't know the publisher.
Our Windows installers aren't signed with a paid certificate, so Windows warns the first time. Click More info, then Run anyway. On a Mac, everything is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a warning.
Live won't start on Windows: "libusb-1.0.dll was not found".
This file belongs to Ableton Live itself, not to our plug-ins or apps. Windows Security sometimes flags it as a threat by mistake and removes it, so Live can't start. To fix it:
- Open Windows Security › Virus & threat protection › Protection history. If libusb-1.0.dll is listed, choose Actions › Restore (or Allow on device).
- If it isn't listed, reinstall Live: download the installer from your account on ableton.com and install it over your current version. Your sets, User Library, settings and authorization stay as they are.
Please don't download the DLL from a "DLL download" website.
My plug-in doesn't show up in Live.
In Live, open Settings › Plug-Ins (Preferences in Live 11), make sure Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders is on, and click Rescan. Our instruments appear under Plug-Ins › Lessons in Live Instruments, our effects under Plug-Ins › Lessons in Live Effects.
Trial and serial
How does the trial work?
Every plug-in and app starts as a free 30-day trial with everything working. After that, plug-ins keep working with a short silence every minute, and apps keep opening files but lock exporting. Your sets always open and play.
How do I activate?
Click the trial text or button in the plug-in or app (or Enter serial / Activate in its menu), and paste the serial from your order email. You can also find it under My Account on lessonsinlive.com. Activating needs an internet connection once. After that it works offline.
How many computers can I use?
One serial works on two computers, Mac or Windows (Driftwood, Resample Me and Lil Modular: three). Getting a new computer? Choose Deactivate this computer on the old one first (in the product's menu or settings), then activate on the new one.
I lost my serial.
It's in your order email and under My Account on lessonsinlive.com.
Updates
How do I get updates?
Updates are free. When a new version is out, a bar in the plug-in or app says so: DOWNLOAD gets the installer for your computer. Install it over your current version, and your serial stays activated. The downloads are always under My Account › Downloads too.
Warp Me
SEND TO ABLETON says "Live isn't listening".
The first time you press SEND TO ABLETON, Warp Me installs a small script in your User Library. Restart Live once. Then go to Settings › Link, Tempo & MIDI › Control Surface and choose WarpMe in a free slot. SEND TO ABLETON needs Live 12.0.5 or later, with a set open.
Warp Me says the file is empty (0 bytes).
The file is an online-only copy, usually in Dropbox or iCloud. On a Mac, right-click it › Make available offline. On Windows, right-click › Always keep on this device. Then drop it in again.
Which music does Warp Me suit?
It's at its best on house, techno, disco and other music with a clear, steady kick. It doesn't work equally well on every style. Where it's unsure, CHECK marks the spot in orange, and the ◀ 1 / 1 ▶ arrows move the 1 if it's in the wrong place.
My track isn't warped well. Why?
Warp Me gets the grid right on most tracks, but no tool gets every recording right. Very free tempos, tracks without a clear beat and unusual edits can need a manual touch. Use CHECK and NEXT to find the spots Warp Me is unsure of, the ◀ 1 / 1 ▶ arrows to move the 1, and fix any marker by hand in Live.
So Warp Me can't guarantee a perfect result on every track. Did a track come out wrong? Send it (or a download link) to info@lessonsinlive.com with a short note on what went wrong. We'll look at it, and where we can, we use it to make the next update better.
